I realize that the food is all homemade with fresh ingredients, which is great but the prices were a bit high with the amount of food you receive. The mains should come with rice and beans, which would increase the value of the dishes but you're asked to pay an extra $5 for them! That's a bit much for rice and beans...

I really hope they do well and last a long time in this competitive and saturated Victoria market. However, I won't be going back since I can get the same or better tasting food at the countless other Mexican food places in Victoria, at a smaller price and larger portion size

Owner personally took great pride in the authenticity of his menu. No tex-mex here, and it showed as my lunch was excellent.

I always like to support local establishments and I really wanted to like this place. This is more constructive criticism, which I hope they at least consider.

I was at the Esquimalt location a couple years back and remember loving it.

For example: the "flautas", which are three rolled-up thin tortillas with chicken in them are ~$15 bucks already just on their own...and to add rice and beans you're forking over a total of $20!? I like bigger portions and this was definitely too much money to moderately fill me up. I left there thinking about what else I was going to eat. The Victoria Mexican food market (authentic or not) is too competitive for these kinds of prices for such small portions.

Sorry, great people but poor flavour.

The servers, manager/greeter, staff were all super nice (which is why I feel bad giving it such a poor review). They really did make you feel at home. The decor and feel was great, and the place was really clean. I also appreciate and support local. Lots of free street parking after 6pm.

Truly authentic and fresh. Loved the flavors, and the service was excellent. Everyone should eat here!

All that said, the food was very bland, it took 40 minutes to be served, and it was expensive.

I came here with a group of six for drinks and dinner. The food was DELICIOUS and the service was fantastic. I loved my dinner, it was so filling I couldn't finish it. Everything was fresh and authentic. I liked that the margaritas had blended ice and the little umbrellas were a nice touch. I will definitely be going back and would recommend this restaurant to a friend!

Both dishes we ordered did not have the flavour we were expecting - at all. They were very mild (and not just lacking spice) I mean the flavour just really wasn't there. Actually, the tables didn't have hot sauces either, but I didn't ask for any. Even the salsa that came with the chips was lacking zing.

Don't expect immediate table chips & salsa on arrival; 40 minutes into waiting for our food order, we asked for chips & salsa to munch on. They arrived 5 seconds after our food (but were complementary), so kind of defeats the purpose. That's a long wait. Other patrons we're seated, served, finished, and awaiting their bill by the time we were served.
